ASA in Cambodia

In Cambodia ASA worked for "HEKS Cambodia Program (A Swiss humanitarian NGO) from 01 August' 1993 to 30 November' 1993 (04 month). The main objectives was to implement the Credit and Savings program in project areas for establish at least 500 newly returnees from Thai border refugee camp & internally displaced people.

ASA in Ehiopia

In Ethiopia ASA implemented the "ASA Model" in the field of micro credit program" from January 15, 1998 to April 15, 1998 in Sidama Development Corporation (SDC), Ethiopia. The main objectives was: (1) project design, (2) Analyzing income and expenses for sustainable micro-credit program. (3) Cash flow analysis and capital needs assessment. (4) Analyze overall program cost efficiency considering all unit offices, staff and material inputs and program design ratios, i.e. group per promoters and promoters/supervisor. (5) Work with the staff team and provide on job training to them. (6) Assist on designing and conducting training courses for SDC staff. (7) Review project proposal strategy for institutional development and make recommendations for enhancing the pace of local institutional formation and capacity development. (8) Credit policies and procedures; staff development progress and needs; institutional development/ sustainability and financial sustainability; future technical assistance needs in the immediate and long-term (9) Prepare a detailed implementation plan, train local staff to be able to continue the implementation after the end of consultancy (10) Complete the collection of baseline information needed to start the project (11) Prepare a plan for monitoring and evaluating the project (12) Set up accounting, administrative and reporting system for the project.

ASA also provided one month consultancy service to Save the Children (USA) Ethiopia on Micro-Credit from 9th Sept. to 10th Oct.97 with the invitation of Save the Childern-USA. The service includes:-

Preparation of one year Micro-Credit Project implementation plan in a cost effective manner.
Provided training on:
a) Community mobilization and institution building.
b) How to operate small savings and micro-credit program in a self-sustained approach.
c) Managing and maintaining the book-keeping/record keeping system.
d) Developed a basis of monitoring evaluation system of Micro-Credit Project.
e) Developed a strategy for the establishment of partnership for successful operation of Micro-Credit Project.
